Physics and the God

In his new book, "The Grand Design", co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow, the British Physicist Dr. Stephen Hawking says that God did not create the universe; but the Big Bang was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics.

"Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist," Dr. Hawking writes.

Dr. Hawking is perfectly right that the God did not create the universe. I am also a student of physics and I fully agree with the physicist's statement.

However, we should look at the God through a different perspective. The God has been thought of just a mythological (or spiritual) existence. When it comes to God, scientists turn-away from the concept saying "Oh! How orthodox!"

I re-iterate, we should look at the God through a different perspective. The God, as has been stated by the ancient Indian scholars, is the forms of Energy. I have already mentioned in my blog (http://svchitre.blogspot.com/2010/04/hindu-gods-and-energy.html) earlier that the God is Energy.

In physics, we have three forms of energy - the Rest Energy, the Potential Energy and the Kinetic Energy. In the ancient times, when the common people were not educated to understand the scientific concepts, the God was picturised as "Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh"; the one who creates, the one who manages and the one who runs the universe. But in ancient Indian books, the concept was written in the form of verses, which were misinterpreted as mythology over a period of time. Indeed the ancient Indian scholars - the sages - knew these three energy forms, when rest of the world was still dwelling in the forests, which were discovered by modern scientists thousands of years later!

Dr. Hawking has worked on the two distant aspects of modern physics - Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, which concerns gravity and large-scale phenomena, and quantum theory, which covers subatomic particles. The sages also mention the God as "covering the whole universe, at the same time minute of the minutest" (modern calculus : definition of lim x->0).

The God is not a Man. The God is not a prophet. The concept of God is purely scientific. We have to change our mindset from mere mythology to scientific concepts to understand the God !!
